Dear Anita,

This postcard comes from our most recent family holiday, at a caravan park near Filey Beach in Yorkshire, UK. It’s a little grubby and bent because my two-year-old daughter recently took it into her preschool class for show & tell (one of her favourite parts of the week)!

We stayed at Filey in June this year, with my parents who were visiting from New Zealand. The sky looks blue and sunny on this postcard, but on the day we were there, it was freezing! Another beach-going family had one of the blue, yellow and red windbreaks you can see at the bottom of the card, and we huddled beside that to escape the icy wind. It definitely wasn’t a day for swimming, but my daughter still made sandcastles, piled up stones and generally enjoyed being on a holiday at the seaside.
